30 April 2021- Health departments in Germany have reported 24,329 new Corona infections to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) within one day. In addition, 306 new deaths were recorded within 24 hours. This is according to figures from Friday morning, which reflect the status of the RKI dashboard as of 05:35. Subsequent changes or additions by the RKI are possible. A week ago Friday, the RKI had recorded 27,543 new infections and 265 new deaths within one day.

The number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants reported within seven days was 153.4 nationwide on Friday morning, according to the RKI – the lowest figure since mid-April. The previous day, the RKI had reported this seven-day incidence at 154.9, and a week ago at 164.0.

The RKI counted 3,381,597 confirmed infections with Sars-CoV-2 in Germany since the pandemic began. The actual total is likely to be much higher, as many infections are not detected. The RKI gave the number of those who recovered as about 2,995,200. The total number of people who died from or with the involvement of a confirmed infection with Sars-CoV-2 rose to 82,850.

The nationwide seven-day R-value was 0.92 (previous day: 0.90), according to the RKI situation report released Thursday evening. This means that 100 infected people mathematically infect 92 more people. The R-value represents the infection incidence 8 to 16 days ago. If the R-value is below 1 for a longer period of time, the number of infections is decreasing; if it is continuously above 1, the number of cases is increasing.
